Cathy Ray, BA

Administrative Coordinator, 4TVI

As the Administrative Coordinator at 4TVI, Cathy Ray lends support across departments - assisting her team members in travel trade, travel media and with general administrative duties. Born outside of Toronto and raised in Vancouver, Cathy holds a bachelor’s degree in art history from the University of British Columbia and brings over 20 years’ experience in the tourism industry, along with a deep knowledge of visitor services and destination promotion.

Cathy began her career at Tourism Vancouver, where she spent a decade helping visitors explore British Columbia on the front lines of the Visitor Information Centre and played a key role in the launching of visitor servicing for cruise ship passengers. Upon moving to Vancouver Island, Cathy joined the team at Tourism Victoria, first working in travel trade as a coordinator supporting tour operators and travel agents. Cathy later transitioned into travel media - an especially natural fit given her lifelong love of magazines. Focusing on the U.S. market, Cathy regularly travelled to key American cities to meet with editors and journalists to share stories about the region to entice their audiences.

After the birth of her first child, Cathy stepped away from the tourism industry for over a decade to focus on raising her family. Now, with her husband and three children, she balances her professional work with a love for family life. Based in Victoria, you will often find her on the sidelines of a soccer field cheering on her kids or exploring the outdoors through recreation and play. Her deep knowledge of the region, combined with her passion for storytelling, visitor experience and customer service, continues to shape how she contributes to the tourism industry on Vancouver Island.
